In 1955, husband and wife songwriting team Sy Miller and Jill Jackson decided to write a song about their wish for world peace and what they believed each person could do to create it.
Originally introduced to a group of teenagers from different religious, racial, cultural and economic backgrounds, "Let There Be Peace On Earth" quickly grew in popularity on a global level. Performed from Africa, to Europe, to the United States, this piece leaves us with this simple thought, "Let There Be Peace on Earth, and Let It Begin With Me".
